Chattanooga became a special place for me while I attended Covenant College and played soccer as a goalkeeper. After my first two years of teaching in North Carolina, I attended a wilderness leadership program in Alberta, Canada. I returned to Charlotte and obtained certification as an EMT. I walked into Normal Park with jellyfish hanging from the ceiling and art all over the walls and knew that I was supposed to be here. As Robert Frost said, "I am not a teacher but an awakener". Four years later, I am encouraged and challenged to awaken the students I am blessed to teach everyday at Normal Park!
